that was a diffrent time. Many women back then married at 17 and had babys by 18--it was the christian way. Women were to marry and have kids as soon as they graduated.

Ridiculed? No. But their mothers wouldn't be awarded mother of the year awards, either. And Sarah Palin leaving a 4 month old to a nanny while in very stressful job is questionable judgment as well.

The good thing was that Obama's grandmother did not oppose s*x-education and say that Abstinence Only is best for American Kids.

Another difference is that Obama's grandmother did not try to be vice president while her family was struggling, she just took care of them.

People make mistakes and get pregnant at early ages.  You do the responsible thing and have and raise the child.  Family values doesn't mean that you are always perfect, but that when you do make a mistake, you own up to it and take responsibility, not run from it and do even worse things such as murdering unborn babies.
