He was 15 when it happened. What actually happened however was that he was demoted to the second team in his high school. The media plays this story up and exaggerates it a bit to make it seem more dramatic.

joey s you obviously never got dropped down to second team (or never made a first team...) if you have the skills but get dropped its gut wrenching. when i was 16 it happened to me and i didnt play ball for almost a month. in michaels case, to go from that to being the most influental athlete of all time is an amazing achievement.
