Not the girls, I know boys and girls are totally different in this! My oldest we started about 2 and a half and he didn't get it down until he was 3. But it was a NIGHTMARE!! Probably the hardest thing I have done so far as a mother. My little guy is almost 18 months. But he doesn't speak or communicate very well right now. It is to early or should I start? If we start too early is that just as bad as starting too late??

  1. My son started showing interest in the potty at 9 months so I bought him a potty chair and before and after baths and first thing in the morning we would take him and sit on the potty ( he didn't really know what to do with it) but he was day time potty trained by 15 months night time was a little harder to break but fully trained by his 2nd birthday. Just be consistant and make it fun.. toss cherios in the potty and give stickers for him going .. make up a fun potty dance and song.. Dont force him to sit on the potty.. maybe have him pick out some big boy underpants and let him wear them for about 30 mins or so and as he uses the potty he can wear them longer

  2. i learned how to use the potty and started long before my son was born..however my son was about 1- 1 1/2  years old we started him as soon as he could sit still without holding him....started him off in the high chair potty..

  3. We started introducing the potty and the concept of potty training just after his 2nd birthday..he's going to be 3 next month and we're *still* working on it. He's doing much better but I think we still have a ways to go...totally opposite of my daughter who just went from diapers to panties by 2.

  4. I think starting too early is what causes the nightmares!  My son was 3 1/2.  I waited until he was ready rather than trying to rush him out of diapers.  At about 3 we started introducing the potty, but didn't force the issue.  Then when he started saying he had to go, we put him on.

  5. At 22 months I bought the potty rings for the toilet.  But he was afraid to actually sit on them for at least 2-3 months.  We would play "Put the ring on & off the potty"!   At about 26 months, he really showed more of an interest to sit.  I also brought in the portable DVD player and let him watch while trying to go potty. We also read books on the potty.  Slowly, all the potty pieces sank in and by 30 months, he was completely pee trained.  It took only 1-2 more months to be p**p trained, as well as overnight.

    Good luck :-)
