Just curious...our son didn't crawl until he was 8 or 9 months old...we really thought he'd skip crawling. He's 11 months old now and cruising well with furiniture and trying to stand without holding onto things....just wondering about how long I'll have until he's very mobile when it comes to walking. (And no...I'm not rushing him...just curious) Thanks in advance!

  1. My son walked at 8 1/2 months....which was way too early!  My daughter walked at about a year.

  2. my son started standing at 9 months and was cruising but 10 months and was running around crazy by the time he was 12 months..It won't be long..But my son never did crawl so I think he was more motivated to walk.

  3. 10 or 11 months

  4. my son started at 11 months, wobbly baby steps. By 1 year, he can walk unassisted or even do some running. I'm sure your son will too!

  5. My son started walking at 11 months but my daughters were over 13 months when they started walking.  Sounds like he will be walking really soon.

  6. Amazingly both of my kids started taking their first steps on or within a few days of their first birthday. Fun times! Enjoy them. Thanks for jogging my memory.

  7. my son started crawling late at 9months then cruising and when he turned 14 months  started wakking unassisted..its been 2 weeks now and now hes running..he still doesnt ge up without holding onto something though...

  8. my daughter started at 9 months, it took about 2 months for her to get really good

  9. It won't be long now, i'd say a couple of months at best, try to encourage him to come to you back and forth between you and your partner

  10. my daughter walked @ 16 months, but she was 3 months premature, so age adjusted would be 13 months

  11. my daughter walked at 13 months.

  12. My niece started crawling at 4 1/2 months and was walking at 7 months on her own. That is way earlier than most kids though on both. My nephew was crawling around 6 months and then was walking alone at 11 months. I baby-sit for a little boy that didn't start walking until he was 15 months.

I think if he is starting to cruise along furniture then it wont be to much longer until he takes off across the floor without holding on. He sounds like he is right on track with the walking though.

  13. 1st son - 10 months

    2nd son - 10 1/2 months

    Daughter - 11 months

  14. It depends on the child: my first daughter walked @ 10 mos., my second son walked @ 14 mos., third daughter walked @ 13 mos., and final son walked @ 14 mos. Boys tend to walk later than girls. If he's already cruising, go ahead and baby proof now, and don't turn your head for a minute!! :)

  15. My son started crawling at about 6 and 1/2 months.  He was standing up within a few days of crawling and cruising within week.  Now it is 3 months later and he is still doing the same things.  He hasn't stood on his own without holding on to something.  He can walk and push one of those walking toys but refuses to walk if I hold his hands.  So I don't know how long after cruising they start to walk.  My friend's son was in a similar timeframe as your son and he took his first steps on his own on his 1st birthday.

  16. Boys are very lazy!!!! He will take his time.

  17. My eldest boy was 16 months, he was a big chubba, so had trouble supporting his weight, number 2 was 13 months, numbers 3 and 4 were both 12 months, up to 20 months is not unusual. Enjoy him whilst hes not mobile with 2 hands to undo everything you do. They grow up way too quick :-)

  18. 12 months.

  19. Well, all children are different but if he's cruising then I'd give him about a month before he starts taking steps from the first cruise.

This was the case with both of my twins.

My smaller twin started walking around 11 months.  Her sister started walking at 13 months.  Both of them walked about a month after they started cruising.

  20. It happens really quickly once they start moving around my holding furniture.  I'll bet you'll have a little walker within a month.

  21. When he's ready. There really isn't a "normal" time.

Anywhere between 7 and 18 months. A girl I knew, her son was walking at 8 months, another girl's son just started to walk at 19 months. They're both normal and healthy boys.

My son started crawling at 7 months and right before he turned 11 months he started walking (also the day before I went back to work).

    Good luck to him :D
