ruby was 14 months on the 4th. right now she is sort of in between two naps and one -- depends on the day, how she slept at night, etc. i am just curious: when did your baby make the full switch to only one nap every day? also, was the nap short at first? when ruby takes one nap, she only takes it for 90 minutes (that's how long they are when she takes two). once she makes the complete switch, can i expect the one nap to get longer?

  1. My daughter dropped her nap around 14 or 15 months of age. She had been taking one in the morning around 10, and one around 3. We dropped the morning one and encouraged her to sleep in a little later and go to bed at 730. Now that it's summer we let her stay up as late as 830, but she doesn't usually get up until 930 or 10 am, and she goes down between 1230 and 3, and sleeps for an hour some days, and 4 hours other days, again, depending on level of activity and what we did the day before.

    Good luck!

  2. 2 years old.

  3. Here is what my pediatrician recommended, and it worked like a charm!  (I felt like my entire schedule was built around my son's naptime when he took two a day).

Delay her naptime gradually, so if her first nap is usually at 11 am, push it back to noon, or even 12:30 if she can hold out that long.  She will be more tired and therefor more likely to sleep longer.  It may require a little bit of adjusting, as you may find that she is crabbier than usual in the evening, but she will adjust.

  4. my son was about 12 months when he started taking one nap a day.  He goes to sleep around noon and sleeps for about 2 hours, sometimes longer.

  5. My daughter is almost two and still takes two naps. The morning nap is about an hour and the afternoon nap is normally two hours.

When you switch to one nap she will probably sleep longer.

    Good luck

  6. about 9 months old.

they were more interested in trying to keep up with everyone else.

  7. Well, I i don;t have a toddler, so my niece was around 16 months.

  8. This was always tough with me.  My kids switched from 2 naps to 1 around 18 months.  The problem was they couldn't quite stay awake until after lunch.   So at first I would do a late morning 10 -11 heavy, healthy snack and then put them down for a nap.  Then I would end up putting them to bed earlier for the night as well.  As far as length of nap, if I remember correctly they were not any longer (1 -2 hours).  Occassionally longer.  This was hard for the first few months and then they just started to fall into a later afternoon nap that would last longer.  Good luck.

  9. 15 months. She's 2 1/2 now and sleeps from 130-330 or 4pm.
