15 ( now hinting at my age)--and I got it against my parent's wishes by applying for a 30 day state funded car insurance program that was in effect back in the day for qualified applicants who aced the written test with a perfect score.

Once my parents saw the usefulness of my running errands and freeing up their time at home, they quickly got over what I did and fully insured me.
