I graduated from high school in June, and i was wondering how old you have to be to be a sub teacher because all you need to do for the county I live in, is to have a high school diploma or GED and take the county classes and do a background check.

Only thing is, I'm 17, so will I have to wait until i turn 18 even if I do all of the other requirements? The website says nothing about an age restriction or limitation.

  1. In most places you have to be 18. In NY you need to have 6 college credits.

  2. I would call your local school district headquarters and ask.  They will be able to give you better information than just about anyone here.
