  1. Awww! thats such a cute idea! there are tonnes of patterns online.. just google things like 'snail costume patterns' if you havent already tried of course.. im sure your son will look adorable :)

  2. Hi

I normally spend ages trying to figure out my daughters costumes, so not sure how good I can be in space of 3 minutes. but we can try.

First, perhaps consider a leotard (shop around there are loads of cheap ones) brownish or gold or something, plus some tights in a similar colour

You will need a pair of these sort of things

    http://www.sillyjokes.co.uk/dress-up/acc...

although not sure what they call them now (deelyboppers in my days) local poundstore should do something similar that you can buy, and adjust to look like snail feelers (wrap the stalk in brown material or something)

The shell..... ok... lots of thin card needed and some old bits of polystyrene. Cut the card into strips all the same width ( say about 20cm wide) then glue and sellotape them into a really long long piece. You then roll that up slowly, and every couple of feet you stick a bit of polystyrene to the middle of the card  (poly must have 2 flat sides, old packing material best). This polystyrene keeps a gap between the constantly expanding spiral. It will also keep the whole thing light, especially if he has too wear it for a while.

Once the spiral is made (sounds harder than it actually would be i think) then you just stretch an old sheet over it. If you stretch it, then the edges of the card will push through, creating the spiral lines of the shell.

You may need to put in quite a few small bits of polystyrene to stop it collapsing when you stretch the sheet.

    Hope that helps

  3. maybe he could wear tight green clothes and green antennas (feelers) and then just cover a back back in brown papers?

  4. I'd go for an easy option 'shell like' creation, so (using the t-shirt/leotard or whatever - we're concentrating on just the shell here!) I 'd buy card (you'll have to experiment with the length, you may need two taped together) and using the long edge as it is cut a full length triangle. The (using the edge of a table or a ruler drag the card across it lengthways to allow the card to curl, with the tallest curl (the short edge of card) on the inside and the point to the outside, then keep curling until it holds itself. You could pierce it and thread a wire through ( on the side nearest the body ) if it needs strengthening. I have just tried this as a paper model and it works really well.

  5. if you go any slower id say just skin urself and make him where it

  6. I hope your not lookin for a speedy answer! rofl xx

  7. PApier mache is the obvious choice...but awkward if you are no good at crafts....you need a plain green or brown t shirt and trusers to start with....next I would get a large hatbox....tape the lid on and then put arm straps on each of the flat bases....paint it with bright whirls of colour...google image snails to see the patterns....make him feelers by using coulered thick pipecleaners on a woolen hat.

  8. make james go to some taylor

  9. Snail custume? Hmmm. Get an old coat and glue a load of snail shells on to it.

  10. White/beige body suit /teeshirt shorts

party supply store for an antenna headgear (white and paint black eyes on the front.

as for a shell, cut a brown pj pants in half (from crotch to waist) , use brown duct tapeto connect them into a long tube, fill with polyester fill (pillow stuffing), and roll into a spiral and attach (with duct tape again) to child.

of course, a bit sloppy, but any improvements are possible.

    Good luck!

  11. Get some chicken wire and tie it up so it's in a big circle like a hollow drum. Criss cross string across the 2 open parellell circles. Paper mache the whole thing with newspaper giving it a few layers. Paint it brown and add a big black spiral to look like a shell. Strap it to his back like a backpack! Good Luck!

  12. Draw some spirals on a couple of round cushions (out of their covers so you can still use them), attach them to a hoodie so they come to a point to help it stay stable and wear the hoodie up with some deely boppers for eyes.

  13. I think a tyre innertube is the way to go, blow it up, you could fasten it on using a belt, cut out 2 circles of cardboard, paint brown and draw a decreasing circle on each one, stick them to each side of the innertube, buy an alice band.hair band in brown in possible, make 2 antenna out of a wore coat hanger and put ping pong balls on the end and paint them brown, then dress child in brown leggings and jumper. Hope that helps.
