Question:

How open are the Swiss to other religions?

How open are the Swiss with other religious beliefs? I'm an atheist, and personally - it terrifies me to remain in America due to the fact that church and state have the tendancy to not remain seperated. Are the Swiss overall more welcoming towards other beliefs? Or are the Swiss more into keeping their own beliefs, and not welcoming any others? Keep in mind, I'm asking for the majority - I know certain people are different than others.

Any information is helpful and appreciated.

  1. As long as you do not break any law or disturb the public you can practice whatever religion you like.

Most Swiss are not very religious. Nobody would care if you'd burn a bible here and there are no candlelights in front of Marylin Mansion concerts.

Only proselytizing fanatics (of whatever religion) are not welcome here.

  2. You see it by the quantity of answers that you get: Religion is nothing that could really interest the Swiss. Or, as Santero said, they are not very religious. So, you'ld definitely be welcome as an atheist in this country.
