How or is there a way to reduce iron & sulfur content in well water?

The sulfur smell is pretty bad and the iron is "staining everything from the showers to the dishwasher. There is a salt/softener system already in place. Could that make it better or worse?

  1. There are many ways to get clean water.Beside membrane technology being expensive ,many other alternate water treatment plants are available www.oxycair.com click MMRV.

  2. My husband owns a dairy farm, and we have sulfur water. We go through huge amounts a water with washing the milk tank and watering the cows, and he has used Peroxide since the day I met him. The only time I notice the sulfur is when the peroxide wears out, so it does a very good job, and the cows drink better when the water is treated. I'm not talking about over the counter peroxide, this is industrial strength peroxide that comes in a huge blue container that gets hooked directly to our well pump and mixes directly with the water being pumped out. I don't drink the water still (we buy our drinking water), but it's much more enjoyable doing laundry, showering, even brushing our teeth. If you want to know more, e-mail me, I'll be happy to answer any questions!! I'm not sure if it helps with iron...but I do know they sell special salt to put in your softener that will remove the iron...have you tried that?

  3. You may be able to add another filter to the water line.

Usually very hard or very expensive to get rid of them in well water.

  4. Just use a filter many types available in the stores.....
