I always thought that farmers' markets were places where you can buy local and organic stuff. However, when I checked out the one we have here in Galway, there was prepacked stuff from the continent as well, and it didn't have the organic label. So now I'm wondering about the other things sold there. Is it organic? Is it local? How can I find out?

  1. the real farmers are at the bottom of the farmer's market, and seem to actually sell locally grown and organic produce.

the local cheese and baked goods are excellent, as well. rule of thumb- if there's a package or produce label on it that is mass-produced, it's not what you're looking for.

also, be sure to go early- the produce goes quickly. and don't be afraid to ask about the products before buying.

  2. Ask the vendor , most at farmers markets are  reputable  & are willing to answer questions
