How painful is ear stretching?

Question

I'm going to be stretching from my regular gauged ear to about a 10 or 16g?

I'm new to stretching my ears, so I'm pretty clueless.

How painful?!

very painful.. my adivce get some one else to stretch it for you and do it all at once not a little bit at a time.

Personally, I had no pain until I reached 8g.  I used to occasionally wear hanging earrings before I began stretching though, so this may be why.  Be sure to wait at least 3 weeks to a month in between stretches, and if they do not just go right in, be sure to use a taper.  There will be a slight pinching/stinging pain, but anything more than this indicates that you should slow down.
