hi... new pilot here (only 3 hours in my logbook). i just wanna ask the more experienced aviators how you apply what you've learned in the flying profession to maintain your own car's performance... and how similar is it to checking an aircraft.

  1. i kick the tires once in a while and keep an eye on the tread to make sure its wearing off evenly.. i keep a closer eye on the gages as well and dim the dash lights when driving at night.. i always keep an eye out for fluid too

  2. i wouldnt fly an airplane maintained in the fashion I maintain my car.

  3. I don't really do a walkaround of my car, unless you count glancing at my tires on occasion to make sure I don't have a leaker.

It doesn't have a static port, pitot tubes, surface controls/hinges/actuators, trim tabs, fuel sump, you get the idea.

About the only similarities are tire pressure, and engine oil.

It's good that you want to apply your knowledge, and congratulations on your first few hours. Hopefully you stick with it.
