  1. She is not powerful, but she has an important constitutional and ceremonial role to play.  And if we didn't have her, we would have to have an elected president which would be very tiresome as well as being more expensive.  I am in favour of maintaining the staus quo.

  2. For us juosters, she is the perfect subject

  3. Tecnically she has no real power, but if she suggested something to the Government, the politicians would go out of their way to make it happen (so she's still got a lot of power after all).

  4. The Queen has some influence in matters,but since she is a Constitutional Monarch,her powers are limited.Visit http://www.royal.gov.uk/output/page4683....

    and

    http://www.royal.gov.uk/output/page4688....

    for a look at her working day and

    for a complete explanation,but here is a snippet.

    "The Queen's role is to:

    Perform the ceremonial and official duties of Head of State, including

    representing Britain to the rest of the world;

    Provide a focus for national identity and unity;

    Provide stability and continuity in times of change;

    Recognise achievement and excellence;

    Encourage public and voluntary service.

    The British Sovereign can be seen as having two roles: Head of State, and 'Head of the Nation'.

    As Head of State, The Queen undertakes constitutional and representational duties which have developed over one thousand years of history.

    There are inward duties, with The Queen playing a part in State functions in Britain. Parliament must be opened, Orders in Council have to be approved, Acts of Parliament must be signed, and meetings with the Prime Minister must be held."

    She reads state papers and works with Parliament and the Prime Minister,who are the ones who do political administrations.

  5. i'm not exactly sure, but she's not very powerful and it's basically a tradition. Apparently, she's met the Jonas Brothers a few times and made YouTube videos with them.

  6. not.  She´s nothing but a figurehead.  She has the power to convince people to donate to her charities...that´s about all.

    (she does a few other things, but that's the kind of powers that she has).

  7. She has to give Royal assent to a bill before it's passed as a law (she signs it) but this is more of a tradition nowadays rather than a power thing. She really is mainly just a figurehead but does work very hard, imagine if you had to sit through all those boring ceremonies and meet all those people like everyday and remain polite and dignified! I guess she does have other powers but the government pull most of the strings nowadays.

  8. Actually...Frank lol...she isn't that powerful at all...their entire family...now that the prime minister has been put into role...is reallly just a figurehead....

    She doesn't get to make laws, or decide whether to go to war or not...she is just sort of..there...she rides around in her horse drawn carrage and old-fasioned car...and get paid to go it by the British government, (i think)

    Anyone, please correct me if i am wrong, Hope this helps,

    Frank
