How prominent is child sexual abuse in western society?

I cant seem to find any accurate figures on this. I've had it quoted as high as 25%, and as low as 0.1%. Does anyone have any accurate and realistic statistics? As sickening as the subject is, it does get over-exaggerated.

You probably won't find any "accurate figures", because mostly this is an estimation...as the figures aren't usually based on convicted offenses, but rather data drawn from the frequency of complaint in relation to the data they use to estimate hte number of cases that go unreported.

The 0.1% is probably the figure based on convicted offenses, where as the 25% is probably an estimation that figures in the reported cases and the estimated unreported cases.

Criminal justice stats are usually pretty tricky, and you usually have to read the fine print.

Are you referring to sexual abuse by any particular segment of society such as the pedophile Catholic priests who are still going around scott free?

The correct term is how frequent.

It's not very prominent because the majority is done by close family members not strangers. There is a tendency to turn a blind eye to the behavior on a family level and on the social/political level most people actively avoid the messy situation.

Most of it is undereported because world gov'mnt dont care about the s*x abuse of a child,they're too busy murdering children by butchering them in the womb,those blessed to come out of the womb,the gov'mnt track them down and try to murder them by other means(allowing drugs to run rampant,s*x abuse rampant,along with sexual disease,parents murdering their children by beating them to death,or throwing them alive into their fireplaces,or beating them to death,or putting them into microwaves,or wash machines,or dryers)all of this gets swept under the rug,because the media doesnt care about child abuse either.There is nothing over-exaggerated about child murder,because no ones loves children in this world hardly any more,they are viable killing targets.Those that cant scream,dont get heard,those that can scream,also dont get heard,only adult's who can vote and who have jobs and pay taxes get heard.
