  1. I lost a couple of pounds in the first month when I started recreational running.  However, if you are training for a race, do not count on losing weight!  You need to keep your caloric intake up to give you the endurance you need.  I don't know if that is why you are running (races), but just wanted to throw that out there just in case!

  2. The funny thing is, you sometimes don't, and gain alot of weight in muscle. It depends how you are training.

  3. It depends on your current weight. I was around 113 when I joined track and I've gone up to 119 - so I gained muscle weight.

If you're overweight, you're obviously gonna lose weight.

It took around 1-2 weeks for my weight to change, with consistent running, but it also depends on how much mileage you're doing each day.

  4. I actually gained weight, like the person above me said. But I only gained 2 pounds at the time because I did tennis before that and that helped me build muscle.

  5. you start see change in about one to two weeks if you run a mile everyday at least if your overweight if not you may gain muscle doing that

  6. If you are overweight, it should go pretty quick.  i was always tiny when I ran, then I broke my tail bone and had to quit, gained 60 pounds, got surgery,  and now I can run again and have lost 40! I am eating very healthy though, which is the biggest contributor.  I have been on weight watchers sine November.  SO if you run competitively for a few months, and watch what you eat you will lose weight in no time!
