Would I be able to ship out asap to boot camp? Also, how quick can the recruiter get me off to MEPS? and do I have to do physical training with my recruiter before going to MEPS to see if I qualify??

I'd ask a recruiter but I'm only 15 and too young to talk to one.

  1. How about u don't listen to the last guy if u join the marine corp the girls will chase u. you will get a degree and ur chances of being killed over sea is less likely then here in the united states

  2. sounds like you want to leave before talking to your recruiter.

    Semper Fi young Marine!

@ Webassault again:  Where in the h**l do you get your information?  He cannot enlist into any ARMY at 16 with/without parental consent.  Not even presedential consent.  I'm seeing alot of this from you :(

..and he can go to BT at the end of his Junior year as long as he's 17 and his school gives a letter stating that he will graduate on time.  Of course this is w/parental consent.  He then leaves for AIT and the rest of his career sometime after graduation.

    Get your facts straight.

  3. You can take the ASVAB, get a contract, be sworn in and get a ship date on the same day. So ask the recruiter how soon he can get you into the nearest MEPS. So the question is.... how fast can you get to the recruiter?

Man, how come applicants didnt come that easy when I was a recruiter?

Edit - Just saw your age oops. Well the soonest option you have is when your 16 you can join the Army National Guard. The way it works is you need parental permission and must be a junior. After 11th grade you will be sent to boot camp. After boot camp you will return home and must attend "drills" with your National Guard unit. When you graduate high school you will then be sent to AIT (training for the job you chose). And thats it, you're in. But if you dont graduate or hold a 3.0 average, you're kicked out! Talk to you're parents when you hit 16. And the Army is the only branch that offers this program.

  4. You need to slow down, stop thinking of yourself as John Wayne, and quit watching The Sands Of Iwo Jima late at night. You are way too young to be thinking like this.Instead of joining the Marines and perhaps being turned into hamburger in some worthless war,why don't you plan on going to college?Learn something useful, chase all the girls on campus, and enjoy your life.Don't ruin yourself by joining the stupid Marine Corps.Get a copy of the book War Is A Racket by USMC General Smedley Butler and read it.That will open your eyes to the reality of the world.

  5. Here's the straight to the point answer.

Talk to the recruiter your junior year.  Once you sign up you will be a poole and will attend monthly meetings to prep you for boot camp.  Doing it like this will put you well ahead of your peers.  You can leave for boot camp from the day to 2 weeks after you graduate high school depending on when the boot camp cycle starts.

I left for boot camp 2 weeks after graduation.  Some guys had the recruiter waiting for them and left right after the graduation ceremony.  It all depends on you and what you priorities are.

If you sign up your junior year and process through MEPS your senior year you won't have any delays as long as you are in shape.

Also doing it like this you will have to have parents consent if you aren't 18.  Some parents won't sign the papers.  Talk to your family first so you aren't blindsided.
