How quickly can a person become addicted to oxycontin?

Do you mean psychologically or physically?  The psychological addiction can be immediate, the first time you take it, when it triggers something in you that sets off the addiction.

Physical addiction would develop as it is taken regularly over time and tolerance increases, but within a couple of weeks you would have a severe enough addiction to require a detox or very painful withdrawal.

Rather quickly.  Typically the psychologist part comes first but depending on the frequency, amount and length of time a person takes it, he body develops a tolerance and it requires more to get the same effect.  As the person starts increasing the dose that is one of the first signs of physical dependence.  This stuff is very nasty and lasts a long time.

sweet Jesus that stuff is off the wall.  People taking it legitimately get hooked and can't get off it, not to mention what a person hooked illegitimately will do to obtain it once they're addicted.

I'd think twice about taking it for pain even if there was nothing else I could take.. I've seen way too many people really suffer all sorts of withdrawal pains from taking this stuff.. it can really mess up a person's life.
