well, i'm on very strict diet so that i can get back into my old clothes that i miss wearing. i am eating nothing but 2 slices of tomato on whole wheat bread with a slice of light cheese 4 times a day equaling 77.2 grams of carbs per day. i'm drinking 2 liters of water per day as well and i'm going to walk every night. i don't want any harsh, non healthy for you answers. i'm a big girl, i know what i need and don't need. so i just want real down home opinions and leave it at that. i'm a very healthy person and my gp said to do it if i want to, he's not gonna stop me.

  1. Well, if you knew what you needed, than you would be aware that your body is not stupid, and that eating less is for only a very hormonal problem, that is generally treated with gastric bypass.

If your body is used to getting 5,000 calories a day, and then for some reason you got stranded in a jungle, you would not die, because your body knows to ADJUST to your new diet, and will use your other very important tissues to create energy, well before it decides to burn fat.

You can starve all you want, you won't lose any bad weight, but you might lose some muscle mass, as well as energy, that you will need to do that walk every night. Your GP is definitely wrong if they told you different. It stinks, but the only way to lose weight (and I do apologize if this is something related to Thyroid or other hormonal) is to eat almost no saturated fat, as well as no trans fat for the first month, eat a lot of everything good to keep your energy up, because you can't gain weight from apples and oranges, they have no fat, at all. So no risk, and will provide you with the energy to do exercise that will work, which is getting your heart rate to around 140 BPM and keeping it there for an hour, 3-4 times a week. I really hope this helps.

  2. Minimizing carbs isn't important if you want to lose weight. What is important is that you minimize energy (calorie / kilojoule) intake.

Your diet consists of about 500 calories per day. The average adult needs 2000 calories per day. The combination of a 500 cal diet, lots of water, and exercise will mean that your energy deficieny will be around 2000 cal each day. One pound of fat is equal to 3500 calories.

Just so that you can have a nice, clean answer with room for variables, you will lose about half a pound per day, or 3.5 pounds per week. Is this what you were after?

If you want to boost your weight loss, there are a few simple things you can do.

First of all, substitute 3 glasses of water for green tea. Drink 2 glasses with breakfast, and one with lunch. This will boost your metabolism resulting in faster weight loss.

Also, exercise in the morning right after you wake up (before you eat breakfast). Exercising boosts your metabolism, so walking in the morning will mean your metabolism will burn more fat throughout the remainder of the day.

Finally, make sure that you are getting enough vitamins and minerals. 2 slices of tomato on whole wheat bread with a slice of light cheese 4 times a day may seem healthy, but your body is being starved of precious nutrients which it needs in order to function healthily. If you want to maintain a 500 cal diet, replace 2 or 3 of those 'meals' with other foods such as vegetables and some fruit (apples are great and are 50 cal each).

Anyway, good luck with your journey. It will all be worth it come January.

  3. let forget the unhealthy part.... when you starve yourself like that your metabolism slows down because your body thinks youre dying.  after about 3 weeks your body starts to eat away at muscle for the nutrients its missing (slowing your metabolism even MORE) and also your body will release an enzyme that searches out any and all calories it can find and store them as fat.  when you finally begin to start eating normally again this will continue for about a year, you will keep piling fat on fat.  do it the right way and keep the weight off, remember there is a HUGE difference between losing weight and losing fat

  4. First off, it's great that you're drinking that much water that's a huge helper in losing weight. Secondly I would add a couple nuts as a snack (not salted!  I would do almond or something like that). Third, I would only eat that 3 times a day.   Make sure you don't eat later than 5.  Get a lot of exersize, if you're going to walk do it for an hour.

It's great that you're trying to lose weight and I wish the best of luck to you. The urges get greater as you go on and it's good to listen to those urges because it's actually you're body telling you that you need that specific vitamin.  If you crave icecream then drink some nonfat milk. the pound will literally shed off you at first (well it depends on how heavy you really are) and as you get skinier it will be harder to lose weight.  Don't forget to change up your diet plan too. That's actually an important factor people miss out on. If your diet(and your meal times) varies then it causes your body to think more.
