How quickly does shelf-packaged soymilk expire?

I am out of milk, and would like to make iced coffee. I have a carton of organic soymilk that has been in my cupboard for awhile-the expiration date says "best if used by June 22 2007". Do you think it's still ok?

  1. No. I wouldn't drink it if it's almost a year old.

Usually, the shelf-packed milks last longer than the refrigerated variety, but not *that* long. lol.

The nutrients and overall makeup of the drink has probably been compromised. I'd pitch it.

  2. It's probably fine but I doubt I would use it. You get get so milk for like 1.50 a quart. Ever since I got food sick off of bad food I take few risks....

  3. That's a year old.  I would not use it.

  4. yes, it is irradiated after packaging and lasts much longer that the indicated date....I keep a lot of it in my pantry in addition to the soy milk that I make....Just nice to have on hand when it is on sale...

have canned food stuffs for many years...it is sealed and will be good for a long time...

  5. Why add milk and if not milk why add soy to coffee?  Try it without anything or maybe a little sugar to cut the bitter if you use inexpensive coffee.

Sorry you are lactose intolerant or don't like cows.
