How radio signals work.?

I was wonding how does a transmiter send a signal. I know it sends radio signals but how does the transmiter creat the radio signals and the pattern, and what is the radio signal and what happens that makes the anttenna reacts and how the reciever knows when a radio signal is being recieved and what is it in the radio signal that gets reconized by the reciever and how it reconizes it. I dont mean a specific frequencie but how a signal does what it does. Plus what does the radio signal do to the antenna that flows through it to the reviever to make it move or do what ever it is suppose to do..Basicaly the science and everything that is involved.Since I dont know any of this could I please have a simplifed explanition. Thanks.
