How rare is a false positive?

So I'm suppose to start my period on the 7th, so this Sunday. I've been marking on a calandar when I have them, and it seems to range between 24 and 28 days. People say that you "just know" when you're pregnant, and with my first I really had no idea. But lately I've been having that feeling. So I took a test about 4-5 days ago and it was a light positive. It looked like a second layer of paper, and I know they don't work in layers, it works with chemicals. So I took another test today and it was darker positive. So I take it I'm pregnant, but just wanted to know how rare false positives are with the original EPTs. I've had these tests for a few months, and there's no way they can be expired and they were completely sealed still in their individual packages.

There is no such thing as a false positive. But sometimes having a chemical pregnency could make the HPT read BFP. But the way I read your question I really think your pregnent. Good luck and lots of baby dust! Go to your OBGYN to have it confirmed! Keep us updated!

its very very unlikely to have a false positive they are around 97% accurate and that only when a negative is false so looks like your pregnant, oh i had the same thing i had to take two coz they were faint it might be because you are really early it will show a lot darker the later you get as the hormone is stronger to detect

not to common, if you read it within the ten minute time frame, I'd say your pregnant!! Good luck to you and congrats!

The fact that it got darker is a definite  BFP!!! YAY! Congrats!!
