my ancestors from norway have no surviving relatives with the name Haabak

  1. The surname seems to be fairly rare.  There were 13 people listed with this surname in the 1920 U.S. Census according to ancestry.com

    To bring this into modern times.  The U.S. Public Record Index shows about 60 people (but many are duplicates).  They live in New Jersey and North Dakota w/ only one living in Nevada.  These are people who recently owned residences.  So, there could be more out there who do not.

    During WWI there were 4 HAABAKS serving in the military and they were all from the same town in ND.

    WWII lists 2 HAABAKS.  Again, from ND.

    I have checked the sites I normally use for surname origins and I couldn't find anything remotely like your name, it's unique. I even checked on this site as well, but as you will see there isn't one single family in the USA with the surname.
