Hi,pls. provide of how ratios can determine an unknown.An example is if a 1 meter stick is positioned vertically and has a shadow of 1.5 meters then a tree next to the meter stick that has a shadow of 60 meters is how tall?

  1. If a meter stick is positioned vertically and has a shadow of 1.5 meters, its a 1:1.5 or 2:3 ratio. The tree's shadow is 60 meters, and the shadows are represented as the 3 in the ratio 2:3, so basically just find 2/3 of 60, which is 40.

    The tree is 40 meters tall.

    x=40
