  1. They don't do reliability tests on cars until they are at least 3 years old.

So it is impossible to tell you for another year for the 2006 Jetta ratings, which is the same as the 2008 or 2009.

Generally, VW has reliable engines, but have electrical problems like all German cars are known for. Power windows getting stuck. Fuses.

Nothing beats the Accord, which holds the title for most reliable car in the world.

  2. I have the 2007 Rabbit 6 speed auto, and absolutely love it! I think it's about my 8th or 9th car and it is by far my favourite (I've also owned, Mazda's, Ford's, Honda's, Chevy's). VW includes things on their cars that others either don't offer or charge tons extra for. Things like heated seats, heated outside mirrors, lumbar support, etc. You are buying new, so don't let the others tell you about all the problems you will have, those are generally with older models, and any problems you do have will be fixed under warranty. I haven't had any issues with mine and I've now had it just under 2 years. The speed and pick up are great, and it loves to drive fast.

I think really all you can do is test drive the models you are looking at and find the one that is the right fit for you. I just know when I was shopping the Rabbit fit me, and was definitely the best deal, I think Japanese models are way over priced for what you get.

  3. You are better off getting something else don't get a VW, they look cool, but are not reliable and expensive to fix.
