How safe are bed n breakfast accomodation in india.?

I can't opine about places all over India. But I can tell you this : all the bed and breakfast places are governed by State tourism corporations. There are rules and regulations designed by these corporations and state governments. The B &B places must adhere to the same else their registrations are cancelled.

I can certainly tell you about B and B places in Konkan regions ( Maharashtra coast ). I had stayed and enjoyed the stay in such places all over the Konkan region. They are clean and well maintained places. The owners are courteous and care for you.

put it this way, stayed in a fairly decent hotel in Mysore, left my room for just i hour, forgetting to take my money with me. wasn't till the next day that i realised some of my money had been stolen. reported this to management who told me that i was the only one with a key to my room, they denied all, i even got the police, to no avail. checked out and moved to another hotel. This time i was careful to take all valuables with me when i left hotel but i left a trap, to see if my things had been tampered with.. low and behold when i returned back to my hotel, my suitcase had been searched. i knew this because of the trap i had set up. this was a 3 star hotel, not some budget b n b. so be very careful.

It depends on the kind of place to which  u are going. The places which are backward will lack quality. It also depends on the kind of location you are choosing for your stay. If it is a good and reputed hotel then it is going to serve good quality but about others it is doubtful.

bed is safe if you check underneath the bed... (no timebombs)

breakfast is safe if you taste and nothing happens within 10-minutes ... suggest give some food to cat-dogs before eating.
