Im enlisting for the army for a tank job. My parents and siblings got into an argument of how protective a tank is. I assure them that tanks are more than safe enough from the iraqi's, but they dissagree.

  1. In combat, no one is completely safe.  However, and M1 is probably the safest place to be during the current combat situation.

But dont' get too cocky with being safe.  You will learn that every weapon system and every human has vulnerabilities.  You must learn the weapon platform and emphasis the best characteristics while minimizing the vulnerabilities; that is where being a true soldier comes in to being.  You are only as safe as you and your team make you.

    I hope that helps.

  2. ACTUALLY

The safest tank to be in is a Challenger 2 tank

During the 2003 invasion of Iraq, this was the only tank operating in the gulf that did not suffer a single loss to enemy fire. In one engagement a challenger took 14 hits from Rocket propelled grenades and from one Milan anti tank missile. The tank had to disengage for repairs and was back in action within six hours.

IT will ALSO knock ANY known tank off the battlefield. Including the M1 Abrams

  3. Dude I'm just going to tell you to tell your parents, and siblings that you are the safest in a tank.  That way they will worry about you less when you're gone.  But like it was said everything has it's weak points and you'll find out what those are.  For your sake tell everyone your safe and not too worry.  But know in reality it may be a different story.
