How safe is Lucea Jamaica?

I'm thinking about traveling to Jamaica (first time going) and staying in Lucea. Do you know how safe is that city? Also, is this a good location? Thank you.

Jamaica is not very safe, you can expect to be robbed multiple times, bring extra money to make up for the cash which will be stolen from you in each of the multiple attacks.  The extra cash will also come in handy if you are kidnapped - it can be used as a down-payment towards your ransom.  You may also be attacked or killed for your shiny watch, bright eyes, or shiny hair, so keep these under wraps.  Here's hoping you aren't raped.  Take out life insurance before you go, you never know, your beneficiary just might hit the jackpot big time!

I live in Jamaica and i'm looking forward to visiting that hotel as soon as the opportunity presents itself. Lucea is very very peaceful, quiet and safe. Trust me you have nothing to fear my dear, just look forward to a wonderful and unforgetable experience. Don't listen to that nasty **** who obviously knows nothing about Jamaica and probably could never even afford such a wonderful vacation as yours. I hope you have lots of fun in the sun!!!

If you are staying in Lucea it sounds as if you are going to be at Grand Palladium. Is this correct?  Lucea is a small town located between Montego Bay and Negril. I've done much shopping in Lucea at the fruit stands and eating at the jerk pits. It is one of my favorite towns of Jamaica as it is true to it's culture. It is a safe city, the residents are very very friendly.

I will tell you the last time I passed through Lucea and seen the Grand Palladium it is kind of on the outskirts of the town closer to MoBay. You will have to take a taxi to anywhere you plan on going. You may find better luck as a first timer going with a tour company from the resort. The tours offered will be either shopping in MoBay or shopping in Negril as well as other excursions like beach, Mayfield Falls, Dunns River in Ochi, etc. If you plan on visiting Lucea you will be on your own with the taxi ride.

In all you will be completely safe going there and will have a wonderful time!
