How safe is Santa Barbras? (In Auto Theft)?

Im planning on going to UCSB tonight but im afaird of my car being broken into. I want to know how is the car theft rate in or around UCSB. I mean around isla vista. I drive a 240sx. i got a good alarm system on it but from the dorms to isla vista is a long walk. Please help me out im leaving for SB soon.

  1. Buy a club at Wal Mart, it will cost about thirty dollars for a truck club and make sure you get the best one. If you have the time get a break lock at a auto parts store. This, Hopefully, will slow down a potential theft.

    To really feel safe about this problem though, I suggest getting Lojack installed. They have a 90% success rate with recovery of stolen vehicles.

    I have it on my car and also the laptop version. The way it works in cars is they hide a very small transmitter under the hood. If the vehicle is stolen, it tells them the location and they tell the police. I don't worry a bit about my car.

    Another useful item is the Club steering wheel lock. It will stop all but the professional car thief. You can get those at most auto parts stores and places like Wal-Mart. Most thieves just keep going when they see that on the steering wheel.
