  1. It is pretty safe, all the same i would avoid going out alone at night, especially in madrid as you may be subject to theives.

I cant speak for Barcelona, as i have never been, but i found Spain in general to be pretty safe, but i am a really cautious kind of person.

  2. Generally pretty safe, but as it goes for all tourists, beware of gypsies and petty thieves. Also, you might get some cat-calling in your direction as machismo still runs quite strong in Spain.

Other than that, though, Spain is generally pretty safe especially since Barcelona and Madrid are large, modern cities.

  3. The streets of Barcelona are alive by day or night, providing the visitor with a safe place for strolling around, whether for shopping, eating or simply passing the time of day. See http://www.spain4uk.co.uk/places/barcelo... for more details on Barcelona

  4. 5 years living in Madrid and drinking until 5-6 am three days a week.... I´ve seen one fight... between two guys from the UK on a stag party....

Be sensible and you´ll be fine.

  5. Spain in general is very safe for travelers and residents.

But like in any other country and city, try to avoid conflictive areas,....every city in the world has one.

You are save and very welcome,....I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

If you have time, I'm sure you'll love the North of Spain too,...Basque Country, Santander, Galicia,...they are beautiful...

    Good luck!

  6. It is safe as long as you avoid or at least you're careful in touristic areas, all pickpockets are there.

In Barcelona: Las Ramblas/Plaza Catalunya etc.
