  2. Very safe actually, as long as it's maintaned properly. They have had very few actual crashes attributable to the aircraft itself, mostly being caused by crew/maintanance error.

The Rolls Royce option the RB-211-535E4 is one of the most reliable engines in the industry.

  3. 757 safety concerns

The NTSB Friday warned that Boeing's 757 has a problem with its window heating system that can lead to smoke or fire in the cockpit -- a potentially serious safety issue.

  4. As safe as any other AC.  It really depends on what carrier you are wanting to fly with.  I work for an airline, so Im aware of all maintenance on our entire fleet.

Just remember- anything can happen at any moment--but planes are a safer way to travel.  We have to keep up with FAA regulations which in turn make us do our job better.  A 757 is no different, and since it is a bigger AC- it has to have more thing maintained...so Id say it is pretty darn safe.

  5. Safer than your car on the trip to the airport.  That should do it for ANYBODY.

  6. The 757 is a safe aircraft, with that said as with any aircraft it depends on how  well the airline keeps up with the maintenance, as an aircraft gets older more maintenance is needed to keep it airworthy. The 737 that suffer structural failure where the fuselage section peeled off, it was discovered that it spent most of it's life in a salt air environment and should have been retired a longtime ago. Some airlines go beyond the cycle limit to milk as much profit as possible at the expense of public safety. Airlines have narrow profit margins ad are somewhat forced to do this, one of the reasons I don't fly, in fact if you really knew what goes on at some airlines you would not fly ether as deregulation has made it harder for airlines to compete, yeah you have dirt cheap air fairs, but trust me we pay. The older the aircraft the more likely something bad will happen, it is just a matter of when.

  7. just as safe as any other commercial aircraft.

safety features are all standard as per regulations from the FAA.

also, its from Boeing, a big and successful aircraft maker.

you can check this out for accident records :

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boeing_757

Its relatively rather few. if you're aware of other aircraft's accident records.

And keep in mind, traveling by air is the safest way. except maybe by cruise ship, but then, your destinations are severely constrained huh?

as long as your not flying with a backwater, half broke airline, I don't see any problem with maintenance either. Maintenance is also regulated by the FAA and performed by qualified technicians.

  8. It's very safe.  Nothing to worry about.
