How safe is it for a tourist to travel to Puerto Rico?

It is quite safe, just use common sense and do not walk in dark places late at night, we gort crime like evryone else.  Turist areas, sightseeing places, shopping malls, beaches have security / police.

well you just got to use the commonsense about walking in dark places alone or going to a place that when you see the people it do sent same to be the best place in town you know just use commonsense like in any other place in the us

It's quite safe, just don't go places like around El Moro at night and you should be OK.

Just use common sense, you should be fine, most crimes in PR are drug related, and the chances that you get killed because of it are pretty much the same like the chances of becoming a shark attack victim.

It is I think more safe since it is cleaner than Mexico. Just don't gown to the down town region at night alone (if you are a lady). I am not saying that it is more unsafe than any other urban down town at night. Just be careful, and have fun. Watch what you eat and drink.
