How safe is it to upgrade to Service Pack 3 (XP SP3)?

I had my yellow shield with "!" active all day today and made my system totally useless until finally it told me that Windows XP SP3 is ready to install.

However, I lost courage to install upgrades from the yellow shield since some Daylight Saving update failed to install (a long story).

  1. I use SP3 for few weeks and so far I don't have any problem

  2. ive upgraded and haven't had any problems

  3. It is completely safe to upgrade to service pack 3, it installs all the updates that has been made by Microsoft. Plus the Daylight Saving Update is included. None of your personal files will be affected. so it is recommended to upgrade

  4. do it i've been using it since sp3 came out.

  5. Not totally clear on everything your saying but it's safe to install sp3; there are cases where it causes problems, if that happens you could always uninstall it in add/remove (make sure your "show updates" is checked). Another thing you could do if you don't want to install sp3 is do a custom windows update and instead of installing the sp3 option there will be a "view other updates" option. This way you could still stay up to date without installing sp3.
