Question:

How safe is it to use Craig's list?

I posted an ad looking for an apartment, but I didn't put any personal details. I may just be paranoid, but someone answered with an offer and now I'm nervous about giving out my information. Are most people on there legit? Is e-mail good enough or should I give them my phone number to contact me? Anyone with experience would greatly help calm my fears. Thanks..

  1. dont give your info to craigs list it is unsafe nothing there is as it seems to be ever you have to many people lieing to you about who they are are even what they are selling all the time the best thing to do is look at the news paper for apartment and never ever give people details of who you are are your address you have to many sick freaks out here that like to do harm to people all the time do not what ever you do trust no one now a day  no most people are not legit on craigs list at all do not give them your e-mail are phone number are info just be safe

  2. Personally I think you're acting very paranoid. Think clearly: would anyone go to the trouble of offering an apartment just to get your email address or phone number?

Of course nearly all Craigslist people are legit, just like people whose ads are in the paper. Are you afraid to answer a classified ad?

  3. i recently used craigs list to sell some furniture..when you list things ur email is private..somehow craigs list forwards the inquires to ur email address and thats what u reply to that...i was a bit skeptical at first, but i met some nice ppl and sold my furniture..didnt give them my home number...had all my stuff in my garage so they didnt have to come into my house..and my dogs barked the entire time they were here..no problems no nut cases...u\
