  1. hi im form mexico , i`d say that depends where are u going to .

mexico city is a dangerous city , but you can try puerto vallarta is one of the most wonderful beachs

is also a nice town people is kind qith tourist

  2. Just got back from the Yucatan, I feel its very safe, just Keep your wits about you. Dont do things u wouldnt do at home, Illegal or Immoral, well maybe Illegal.

  3. I've never been to Mazatlan.

But I've been pretty much everywhere in Mexico.

I'm not saying you will be completely safe, but don't believe stereotypes. Mexico is no much more dangerous than DC or Baltimore, as long as you don't do stupid things. Don't go places alone, and don't trust any random stranger.

  4. I cannot speak to Mazatlan specifically, but I have studied and/or traveled in other parts of Mexico such as Cuernavaca, Mexico City, Oaxaca, and Guadalajara. Although I always flew to Mexico and thus never brought a car to drive myself, my impression from traveling on a bus, van, or in a car with friends is that the toll highways are safe and efficient. This seems to corroborate the travel advice I normally come across in regards to Mexico. In regards to safety overall in Mexico, it is true that one needs to be alert and should probably go out in a group especially at night. However, that advice would probably apply equally to many U.S. cities.  I do feel that some "horror stories" about Mexico can be rather exaggerated. I think the above posters have it right: simply take reasonable precautions by staying alert and staying together and you should not have any need to feel paranoid. Much as the above comment said, you will probably avoid a lot of trouble by not going out to the wrong places at the wrong times and doing things you know better than to do anyway.

  5. It is not safe to travel to border towns in Baja California, such as Tijuana,  Ensenada, and Rosarito Beach.  There have been lots of kidnappings and murders there in recent months due to warring drug lords and the police down there.  But further south, especially in tourist areas, should be OK.  To check out the latest alerts, go to the State Department website.   And if you are driving, by all means check with the auto club or some other reliable source, and get Mexican auto insurance!

  6. its safe, just stay away from drugs and drug dealers

  7. from what i hear pretty safe as long as you follow these rules:

    1. DO NOT drink the water (it has diseases and amoebas in it)

    2. Travel in large groups (especailly at night)

    3. it helps to know the language a little (it makes it easier to haggle so you dont get jipped when you pay for something.)

    4. enjoy the scenery!
