How safe is paypal.com?

I heard that there is a way on paypal to buy something and that paypal holds the money untill I would recive a product for example. Does anyone know what is that called and how I can use it?

i would say its safe, but about 2 days ago i recieved a fake email saying it was from paypal & that they were confirming that i paid 46.78 for a digimax 300 anyways underneath it said "clcik here to dispute" it had my email & it let me log in & prompted me to "update" my info even my social security & it had my address & the last 4 of my debit card, i looked up at the url address & it was something strange not PAYPAL so make sure to always look at the url .it was a scam. the page looked EXACTLY like the paypal website

PayPal is very safe, infact, I use it with my Ebay account. Don't be afraid, it is very safe and you're money never goes anywhere.
