How safe is pomona, ca?

Question

as in the area around the pomona amtrak station? i plan on using the foothill transit silverstreak and omnitran 61 and i would like to know how safe is that area? i hear about some not so well areas in pomona and i wouldn't want to end up there.

careful there.  Pomona has down trended for the last 20 years.  There are some very rough parts of town and you should remain very aware at any time you are on the street.  My family actually moved offices out ot the pomona mall after being there for years and years.  It just got run down and lost most business.  It even feels unsafe.  However;  Security at the Train Station is fine and as long as you don't go wandering you should have no problems.  And don't get me wrong.  On any given day you could go all over with no problem.  Its kind of like east LA or Compton.  Fine during the day as long as you keep your head up and don't look like a mark.  But nightimes.  Look out.

It's ghetto over there and try not to stay around too long

I lived in Pomona when I was very young. As an adult I went to visit my hometown and see the changes that have taken place since I was a young kid and wow...it got real ghetto. I wouldn't recommend going there. I don't think any area in Pomona is nice, it's all really bad. But if you're gonna be on the amtrak the entire time, then you should be fine.
