  1. It depends.. Well, there is crime all over the world. .Its all about knowing how to keep safe..

I live in Sydney, in the western suburbs where people say its higher. But i've never had a problem..

Keep your valuables safe, dont wear too much jewelry, lock up the place you're staying in.. And dont wander around the streets at late atnight by yourself.

  2. I'm from NY and I have stayed in Australia for a total of 6 months between last year and this year. i can assure you, no worries at all. The sound of sirens are so few and far between do to the low population. i've been to Sydney a few times.. riding the railway poses no threat compared to NY subways. The people are very friendly and you're guaranteed not to get lost. All places has their bad apples, but I have yet to come across them. Stay up!

  3. There's not much, but I dont think like in other places of the world I've been to, there is no discrimination from tourists.

Any thugs will thug locals and tourists alike. Sometimes you wish eugenics had been implemented.

  4. Very safe.

compared to most major cities in the world.

    Note: to tourists,

    you are welcome here.

just please pick your litter up and chuck it in the nearest waste receptacle.  thanks.

  5. i'm from australia, and like anywhere else, we have crime. Yesterday 3 people got stabbed in Chatswood.

however, it depends on the part of sydney you're in. the city is pretty good, but kings cross is a bit dodgy...

  6. Very safe

Just avoid South Downtown, Kings cross, St Mary's, Granville, Mt Druitt, Punchbowl, Bankstown, Lakemba and Redfern (DUH DUH DUH DUH DUUUUH) at night.

  7. It is not as safe as the above posters are saying, at all. Australians tell you how safe their country is all the time, but they are either lying or misinformed. They have a very high rate of sexual assault and assault. Keep your wits about you. Just like anywhere.

  8. yes, it's very safe, perhaps not quite a safe as singapore or brunie darassalum, but safer than london or rome or new york
