In my current job, we are allowed a total of three "sick days" per year (note these days cannot be used as mere personal days-you must actually be sick). The sick days do not carry over from year to year.

You are allowed one week of paid vacation. You are only eligible for vacation after you have completed at least a year.

The company does not offer medical or dental benefits. Each employee receives a stipend check of $140 per month, which is to be used to get insurance (or for whatever else you choose of course).

The work hours are 8:30 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. Monday - Friday. Working on weekends is not required, but the work load is such that it is often necessary to keep up. No overtime is given.

On the positive side, I like all my co-workers, my boss affords me a great deal of freedom to make my own decisions, the atmosphere is friendly-there is a great team spirit with us all.

The job is very close to my home-5-10 minute drive.

I have frequent "casual days" when I can wear jeans and a t-shirt.

I have great job security.

So, overall, how satisfied would you be with this job?

  1. Seems to be a very stable and professional environment, however I would probably get a little overwhelmed at times knowing me. The question is are YOU happy with it?

  2. Sounds great...

  3. sounds like a great job, other than the benifits thing, your lucky to have a job in todays economy

  4. The lack of medical benefits would really bother me, unless I was married and my spouse had them. I would definitely put that 140 in an account and "ignore" it, so that if a health emergency came up, I would have something. The cost of healthcare is ridiculous, but things do happen and you are running the risk of something happening that could leave you deeply in debt. I spent one night in the ER for a non-threatening illness (although I thought I was in bad bad shape) and the bill was over 7,000. All I had to pay was 35, because of my husband's benefits. Those are the things that scare me.

How are you not getting overtime? Those are long days? Are you on salary?

Your work atmosphere sounds awesome. I would love that! I would also love that drive, and the fact that you have job security.

The medical benefits would be my issue, plus those hours, unless you are making a nice salary.
