Here are some quick facts for you:

1. Switch your bulbs to energy-efficient ones: one bulb can save up to £7 per year; all the bulbs in your house will save on average £55 per year.

2. Insulate your loft to 270mm think: this will save on average £110 per year on reduced fuel bills.

3. Fit your hot water tank with an insulating jacket: save up to £20 per year

4. Install cavity wall insulation: if your walls have cavities bewteen the layers of bricks and you get them filled you'll save up to £90 per year

5. Installing double glazing will save up to £90 per year too

6. If you drive a car, being a bit smarter with your driving can save fuel and money: actions like revving the engine less, keeping your tyres pumped up and taking unecessary clutter out of your boot could save on average £110 per year.

7. Wash at 30 degrees rather than higher temperatures: virtually all clothes can be washed effectively at 30 and turning down will save on average £8 per year (every bit helps!)

reduce consumption of water, gas, electricity and amount of these going through the meter reduces=lower bill. compost food scraps and garden waste instead of buying bags of compost.  save junk mail, envelopes etc for kids to draw on, to reduce the amount you spend on paper.  walk instead of using the car to reduce petrol costs to you and exhause fumes into the environment and get fit too.
