how savlon,ethanol and clorox kill bacteria? and how all this type of chemical substances react when encounter with some type of bacteria?

  1. Basically what happens with most detergents--- is since they are organic solvents they tend to break the CELL MEMBRANE since the cell membrane is non polar therefore when used they shatter the cell membrane and thus destroying the balance in the cell and killing it.

    Ethanol also distrupts the the cell membrane because it can also break it thus causing the cell to die.

    Bleach -- with high pH concentration this causes breaks in cell membranes and also denaturing of proteins one proteins dont work bacteria also dies.

    Cell membrane is critical to keeping concentration gradients.... helping hte cell to survive.... also keeping the interior of the cell from the outside.
