  1. In the past (and present) it put more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere for plants to photosynthesize with, and a hole in the ozone layer to let more light in to warm the globe, it put exotic unnatural chemicals in the ground to replace bio-diversity...Hopefully, science and technology can itself get upgraded, and let us live with more 'renewable' energy, and biodegradable detergents, and paper bag technology instead of plastic, and ways to preserve biodiversity instead of genociding it in the name of "superior races" of genetically modified plants

  2. The environment is part of the planet’s climate, and affected by what humans and other life forms on it do to it.  Would not phrase we have "upgraded" it, that may imply humans have made it better, but better is somewhat subjective.

The Earth is extremely old, and what we do may have big or small results with technology.  And a meteor could hit us too, and undo all we have done, or make it far worse, and in time, the Earth will still recover and adapt.

Life does more than adapt to the Earth. It changes the Earth to its own purposes.

  3. None. From the scratch.
