  1. you should try it.  it really depends because one tiny scratch can cause problems while i've seen other scratched up CDs work perfectly fine.  there are devices sold to rebuff the CD to a working state.

  2. Usually it has to be pretty badly scratched since there is a lot of error correction and things on a cd to try and keep it working. If its too scratched there are a lot of hints and trick people use to try and save it. Most of these are a wax or vaseline on the cd.

But, 3m has a commercial product available to try and remove scratches (link below).

  3. The CD has to be REALLY scratched up on the front so you can't see the shine in a large area But you're out of luck if the back gets scratched. What you have will probably work. if  it doesn't then you can get a CD repair kit to fix it up. they sell them at Newbury Comics.

  4. Usually it has to be pretty scratched up... if the system cannot read the disk, then you have problems. usually a few minor scratches will either have no effect, or in some parts there can be a little bit of skipping. If it does get bad, most video game stores will clean a CD for like 3 bucks.

  5. if the scar is deep then it is enough with only one scar ;)
