  1. You first need to identify the companies in your market area that use security guard services. As a general rule, this will be larger commercial and industrial companies that employ 200 people or more. You should be able to use local business directories to create a list of prospects.

    I think that the best way to market your services is to make cold calls by telephone to each of the companies on your prospect list. Call and ask for either the security manager or the facilities manager. (The smaller firms probably won't have a security manager.)

    Once you get the person on the phone, introduce yourself and your company, and ask if they are presently using security guards. If so, ask which firm they are using and if they are satisfied with the service. Also ask if they periodically rebid their contract for security services, and if so, ask when the contract will be up for bid again.

    Even if the prospect is presently happy with their existing guard company, check in with them from time to time to remind them that you are out there and are still interested in their business.

    Sorry, but I don't think that things like direct mail, directory advertising, or Google adwords are very effective ways to sell security guard services. In my opinion, this is a type of service that you need to sell the old fashioned way.
