How serious is job abandonment??

ok I just got hired by a store (wont say the name) I did the orientation and I worked one day. After working tht one day I decided tht job wasnt for me and I couldnt bear to work there anymore. I didnt really want that job in the first place. I kind of just took it becasue it was there. So i called them today to say i ddnt want to work there anymore and they said that would be job abandonment becasue im not giving two weeks notice and that i can never work for tht company anymore. Well i dont care about working for them anymore becasue I never want to do retail again. I want to know if this whole job abandonment thing will come back to bite me later on in life. Any answers???

Just don't them as a reference, and don't ever work for them or a parent or subsidiary of the parent and you should be fine.
