How severe do you think the recession is and how long will it last?

I've heard everything from 'it's not a recession and it will be over by mid 2009' to 'we're on the verge of a catastrophic economic meltdown that will last decades'.

Thoughts?

i wouldn't be surprised if when the election is over...it disappears.

I'm hedging my bets that we are looking at the middle of 2010. The only way this country is going to come around is if we all work with others to find ways to cut our fuel usage by car pooling with friends and stop with credit card purchases we can't afford. It's time to stop sending  our money out of our country and work to support our own.
