Question:

How shall I plant a coconut tree?

I want to grow a coconut tree.....theres space..but I dont know how to "put the seed"....I mean,shall I put whole of the coconut in the ground or what?.....I really want to know.....

You simply lay them on thier side in the container and pile only about 1 to 2 inches of soil around them..do nor bury them..this is how they grow naturally..they wash ashore from floating around in the sea/ocean..and simply lay on top of the sand/soil,,and sprout out of the end..I lived in the Florida keys for 6 years and we have started many a plant from coconuts..as well have seen many sprouting in this manner..Here are many pictures of coconuts sprouting..see how they are simply laying oon top of the soil..

  3. Easier to first grow a coconut from the nut in a large planter then transplant it once it grows.  Make sure you have a space that will not mind coconuts falling about it especially when the wind blows.  They are loud when they fall.
