I know this question is a bit silly, but i just want to know and because I don't know. I would appreciate if you could provide some light with authentic hadith references.

Would i be able to cut my waist long hair up to my nape? ( hypotheically speaking ).

Jazakallahu Khayran

  1. Since Muslim women are supposed to wear Hijab out of their houses, it is not important how long her hair should be because she keeps them fully covered when she steps out of her home.

Hair adds female beauty. For this reason in all cultures men prefer to see long hair of their wives.  No one can decide how long hair a woman should have.  It should be the decision of her own and her husband how long hair she should have, so she still look like a beautiful woman and not like her husband.

  2. Sister, nowhere in Islam has it been mentioned that u can't cut your hair. However, u have been forbidden from resembling guys. And u can't go bald either. So, as long as u abstain from doing those, u should be fine. Cut them as u like.

  3. Asalaamu Alaikum,

Well, I have been told 2 different interpretations - one is that it can' cut at all and the other is that women should look womanly and shouldn't emulate men - so the person who I was discussing it with believes that you can cut your hair but not shorter than the Prophet Muhammed (saw) had his, which was to his shoulders.

  4. Whats a muslima?! Like a female muslim? Is that what you're called?

  5. yes its okay to cut it upto ur nape

but not toooooo short thta will amke u look like the opposite gender

  6. You can cut your hair, but not too short that it makes you look like a male. It's haram to look like the opposite s*x.

I think long hair is nicer anyway.

  7. There are hadiths cursing those men who imitate women and women who imitate men- based on this ulema prohibited women cutting their hair so it resembles men (ii.e short)

A very venerable shaykh told us that it was makruh tahrimi for a woman to cut her hair unless absolutely necessary. What if one's husband wants her to cut it? Is that considered to be one of those "absolutely necessary" cases?

    Answer:

In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

    Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

According to leading Hanafi scholars of Syria, including Shaykh Adib Kallas, there is no harm in a woman cutting her hair, as long as:

    a) it remains feminine (and thus does not resemble men);

    b) it is not cut with the express intent of imitating non-Muslim fashions; and

    c) it is not cut excessively.

The texts in the Hanafi school indicating impermissibility of women cutting their hair are understoodthese scholars sayto be conditioned by the above considerations.

In the Shafii school, it is permitted to even cut the hair very short if the husband prefers it that way.

Please go to www.SunniPath.com, and search for women cutting hair

    And Allah alone gives success.

    Wassalam,

    Faraz Rabbani

  8. Hi..there is no such thing as laws in islam which tells length of hair mandatory for a woman. As long as not too short tht ppl mistake u for a guy its ok:)

Its always nicer to have longer hair though. But most important is managable length.

  9. Hadiths have nothing to do with cutting your hair or not. I wax my hair off my body, and my hair on my head I cut it, the shortest I;ve cut it was to my shoulders. !i
