It is beginning to look like early fall even in July but normally in Yukon (next door to the state of Alaska) we don't get the first signs of Autumn until mid August not mid July. Could this be a sign of Global warming?

  1. Late August....in southern Wisconsin

  2. I am in Montreal. The leaves start to turn around the last week of September and will be all gone by the end of October to early November. I have found that in recent years there has been less cooling off especially at night. Temperatures have stayed into the low 70s (about 20oC) until late September. I think this is probably why the colours have been less impressive in recent years.

  3. If it were global warming, you'd think the hot summer weather would last longer not stop sooner.  I live in the southern part North Carolina, USA, and it's been in the 90s up to 100 degrees here a lot of the summer (and really humid!!) and won't get much cooler until September or October!  Then we'll have some cooler weather and it'll actually get somewhat cold during January and February (into the 30s even! lol).  So our fall lasts from September/October until December.  Sigh...I so miss snow!

  4. Hi neighbor,

Living in southeast Alaska, I think our weather is somewhat similar.  The last three summers have been cool, wet and very atypical.  Almost no sun in July and very few sunny days from June through August.  We've had record breaking winters with lots of snow, wind and colder than usual.

Is it global warming, or just a cyclical change?  I think the answer is both. We've just manged to s***w up the climate right about the time mother nature said, "OK, I'm tired of this".

It would be nice to fix it, but our social, political and economic "climate" won't allow it. (I'm not just talking about the US)

I guess we just fasten our seat belts, put our trays in the upright and locked position and hang on.

  5. I live in GA. Here Autumn doesn't start until around the end of October. When I grew up in Michigan it started in the end of Sept to October. It will start earlier the further North you go and later in the southern regions.

I have never lived anywhere where it is fall in July. How odd. I have lived in the tropics where it was a pleasant 82-86 F year round (I was in Puerto Rico then in Guam) I was in the Navy and moved around all over. Even in Asian countries (Japan) their autumn comes about the same time as North America.

That is a very interesting question. I like travel and seeing weather differences around the globe. You get a star!.
