Question:

How should I act around her?

I have a friend who moved to Greece about 5 years ago, since then I've only talked to her a little on IM and she's really friendly and stuff but quite quiet and shy, a couple of days ago her uncle died in a car crash and yesterday she broke up with her boyfriend and fought with her best friend. When she tells me this I feel kind of awkward and don't really know what to say because I know how people get annoyed if you act like your walking on egg shells around them but it would be stupid to be all happy and joke with her since she's obviously really sad but I don't want to be all "Oh my god, are you OK?!" since I don't really know her that well. What should I say when she brings up that sad stuff or about her uncle without being too mushy about it with her because it would be embarrassing?

I'm not really sure if this made sense but I tried my best.

Also, she's going to be where I live for the funeral, living around the corner so if she visits I don't really know how to act...

  1. Whether your close to her or not if she brings this stuff up it will be because she wants to confide in you and be comforted so just try to make her feel better ..make her laugh maybe or take her mind off of whats happening ..just think how youd want someone to be with you if you were in that situation

  2. Act normal. or just say "How are you?" maybe comfort her if needs it. Just give advice and stuff.

  3. Act yourself... I tell you one thing that gets on the nerves is a fake! You can always since a fake! She needs someone who is as normal as possible...

  4. Show her that you understand how she feels and be a good friend, that all there is too it.

  5. Just act like a friend, someone who has compassion to console and uplift when someone has lost a love one and is down. Act like how you would want your friend to act if that happened to you.

  6. This is a saying that i say and i think it's a very good 1"sometimes it's better to listen than it is to have any answers" She may just need someone to talk to and listen to what's happened.
